5 Reasons Not to Skip Leg Day
Why should you train legs?
Have you ever wondered why some big guys always wear long pants when at the gym?
I’ll tell you why . . . they’re hiding something—they’re hiding their chicken legs.
You might have thought that people train legs only so their body doesn’t look weird. So, you decided to train them also (sometimes), but even when you do, you don’t work them hard enough. You do the leg exercises, just to say that you trained them—just to fool yourself.
Today I’m going to give you 5 reasons why you should train legs as hard as any other muscle in your body. I hope they motivate you enough.
1. You’ll get more muscle
Because exercises like Squats and Deadlifts require the movement of multiple muscles of the body, they also increase the production of testosterone. This is a hormone that helps you naturally build more muscle.
2. You’ll be better at playing sports
Almost all sports today require quick movements, and your leg training will certainly help with that. You’ll be able to jump higher, sprint faster, and your balance will be improved.
3. You’ll burn body fat quicker
Since Squats and Deadlifts are compound exercises, they also help you increase your metabolism. One of the benefits of a faster metabolism is that you will be able to burn that extra fat quicker.
4. You’ll get abs
Many of the exercises that you’ll do on legs day, will also involve your abs, and will help them get stronger. Since we already mentioned that leg exercises help you burn fat quicker, your abs will also look more defined.
5. You’ll look better
Nobody likes people with toothpick legs. Most people would rather have a proportional normal-sized body, than a Hulk upper body and chicken legs. A disproportionate body will also make you more prone to get injured.
How often should you train them?
I would say twice a week is enough, will at least 48 hours of rest in between. Jogging and walking might be helpful as a recovery form. You don’t have to go extremely hard on your legs, but also don’t skip them, or go too easy.
Next time you go to your apartment, try to take the stairs instead of the elevator, since it’s a great exercise for your legs.
